The Kia EV9 Could Be the Electric SUV For You
If you’re considering an electric SUV but aren’t sure which one to choose, the Kia EV9 might be the one for you. Ray Skillman Kia brings you an updated look at the Kia EV9–Kia’s all-new and all-electric SUV that’s expected to debut next year.
The EV9 Enters Final Testing
The Kia EV9 recently entered final testing and will debut as the second all-electric model for the Korean automaker. The only current model to use Kia’s new EV series label is the EV6 crossover. The EV6 has already garnered rave reviews for its advanced charging tech and spacious interior. The new EV9 is a larger SUV and is expected to get about 336 miles on a full charge.
At the 2021 LA Auto Show, Kia showcased several concept EV models that will eventually make it into the lineup. The EV9 was included in this auto show and is now making its way into the production process. Kia’s intensive testing program is designed to push the limits of the EV9’s capability. According to reports, the EV9 went through rough terrain and hill-climbing in 4WD, as well as high-speed handling tests and cobbled road surfaces to perfect ride comfort.
2023 Q1 Debut For the EV9
Kia is aiming for a debut in the first quarter of 2023 for the EV9. The EV9 has been in development for about 44 months and is slated to offer important features for competing in the growing segment of EV models. Some of these features include AWD, a third row, and a generous amount of cargo space.
The EV9 is currently expected to compete with the Rivian R1S SUV, which is slowly ramping up deliveries after delayed production. The R1S is a strong contender in the EV segment for large SUVs, but it also boasts a hefty price tag of $78,000 to
start. Kia hasn’t announced any pricing details yet for the EV9, but it’s likely that the affordable automaker will try to deliver a lower price tag to appeal to more customers.
Kia’s EV Commitment
Kia continues its commitment to making EV models with the EV9, but it already has a stylish crossover in the EV6, which boasts incredible speed and 576 horsepower. In acceleration, the EV6 GT beat two European supercars in the Ferrari Roma and Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder.
Recently, Kia also debuted the upcoming 2023 Niro EV, which is a compact utility vehicle. The new Niro is expected to be larger than previous models and will also feature several technology upgrades.
